Luminous screens and celestial glasses

Fireworks at "Star Island Singapore" at Marina Bay float
Breathtaking fireworks are a staple of the New Year's countdown in Singapore, and celebrating this year is everything.

The aptly named " Star Island Singapore '' presents the heavenly themed show at The Float @ Marina Bay on December 31, 2019, with a six-part extravaganza of 90 minutes of fireworks and electrifying performances.

If you can't get tickets, don't worry. Visit the ArtScience Museum ™, the Ocean Financial Center or the Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore - these hot spots are great views of the fireworks.

Art projections on the Merlion at Merlion Park
Visitors to the Civic Quarter should keep an eye out for iconic buildings in the neighborhood on New Year's Eve. Art projections will be projected on the facades of the ArtScience Museum ™ and the Merlion at Merlion Park from December 29-31, and on Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore from December 26 to 31.

Celebrations and family activities

What better way to celebrate the New Year than to bring the clowns? Originally from the United Kingdom, The Great Circus of Europe is scheduled to perform in Singapore from December 20, 2019, to January 1, 2020.

Live an enchanting experience under the marquee with international circus acts ranging from clowns and contortionists to acrobats and bikers defying gravity. Reserve enough time for a ride in the Bayfront event space, which will turn into a carnival with rides, games, food trucks and traveling artists.

Circus acts start at 4 p.m. at 7 p.m., but visitors can discover the rest of the carnival's charms anytime between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.

A crescendo of celebrations

Esplanade presents Come Together @ Esplanade - Theaters on the bay
The Promontory will take place on the occasion of "Celebrate 2020" by our national broadcaster, MediaCorp. Last year, the selection included local indie sensation Gentle Bones and fashion icon Fiona Fussi. This year, visitors can expect to be entertained by a constellation of similarly talented stars.

Admission to this event is free and you can attend the free live broadcast at the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Event Plaza.

For more music and live performances, be sure to drop by the Esplanade for "Voices - A Festival of Song 2019" and "Come Together", a series of events that celebrate music's ability to connect people from all walks of life.

Other celebrations in the heart of our city include Starlight @ The Lawn and Unwind @ The Civic District, which takes place at The Lawn @ Marina Bay and Empress Drive at Connaught Drive. The first will be transformed into a special car-free zone where guests can relax with food and drink, while the second promises a night of family activities and shows.

New Year is all about new possibilities, which you can discover by downloading the Visit Singapore app (available on the App Store and GooglePlay) or by visiting our Traveler Essentials page.

These practical resources will help you find your bearings, keep up to date with the latest events and provide you with a multitude of maps and city guides. Have fun exploring - and Happy New Year!
